History:

The city has a history of nearly 400 years. After Quli Qutab Shah seized power from the Bahamani kingdom in 1512, they established Golconda city and the Qutub Shahi dynasty. Lack of water felicity and epidemics like the plague caused Quli Qutub Shahi to find a new capital named Bhagyanagar beside the Mussi River. Bhagamathi, the wife of Quli Qutub shah, became Hyder Mahal, and thus, the city’s name changed from Bhagyanagar to Hyderabad.
