Vamana Avatar:

Vamana Avatar is a Vishnu Avatar; Whenever the three heavenly worlds fell in danger, Lord Vishnu Vamana Avatar was incarnated to save them from demons and evil. According to the Hindu Puranas, Lord Vishnu incarnated fourteen times to save the world from Asuras and other evil demons. Vamana avatar is one among the fourteen incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Prahlada was a famous devotee of Lord Vishnu and caused to incarnate Lord Vishnu as Narasimha Avatara to kill his father, Hiranyakasipa. However, his grandson Bali, the mighty Asura behaving valorously, conquered the whole world. He started torturing sages and demolishing Yagnavatikas. Then Indra and other heavenly Gods feared he would destroy all three sacred worlds at Bali. This might affect the existence of heaven. So the holy Gods and sages went to Lord Vishnu for help to escape from the fears of Bali.

Lord Vishnu understood the situation and was then born as a dwarf Vamana in a Brahmin family to protect ‘Dharma’ and reinstall on the Earth from Bali. On another side, Bali was very famous for his generosity. He never took back his word once he committed. On an auspicious day, Bali performed Yagna for his good sake; on the last day of Yagna, Vamana went to Bali to grow up and asked for alms. The delighted Bali offered him anything he wanted. His priest ‘Sukracharya’ warned Bali that the Boy was none other than Lord Vishnu’s incarnation. However, Bali didn’t return his word and was ready to offer anything for the Boy.

Bali Sacrifice:

Then Vamana requested the amount of land that could come under his three feet. The appeased Bali agreed to donate three feet of land. Then Vishnu Avatar grew in unmeasurable height, occupied the Earth and Heaven in his two steps, and asked Bali space to put the third step. Bali offered himself and bent his head to keep his feet for the third step. Then Vamana kept his feet on the head of Bali and crushed him into the underground world. In this way, he helped Sages and heavenly Gods.
