Sanskrit Language, Mother of All Languages

Sanskrit Languages:

Sanskrit is the mother of all languages and is India’s classical language. It is one of the 23 official languages of India and belongs to an Indic group of the language family of Indo–European. Therefore Indian religious books in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism were first written in Sanskrit. The language is also famous as the mother of all languages. In ancient times the Rishis used this language frequently. Scientists have discovered that Sanskrit is the best language for computer programs. Due to these qualities, the Literature had rich expression and themes with magnificent Sanskrit letters.

Sanskrit means decorated or produced in perfect form. However, the language pronunciation is obvious and entire Puranas, Epics, Vedas and Upanishads wrote in the same language. Hindus believe the language is very sacred and that the holy ceremonies and rituals are performed in Sanskrit.

Sanskrit Origin

Sanskrit was born thousands of years ago and is one of the oldest known languages in the world. Sanskrit is also called ‘Dev Vani’, which means the language of Gods. According to Hindu Puranas, Lord Brahma introduced the Sanskrit language to the Sages of celestial bodies since the Sanskrit language belonged to the Indo-European language family of the Indian Sub-Continent.

Sanskrit Letters

In the 18th century, linguistics discovered that the language had similarities with Latin and Greek. Still, Linguistics gathering evidence to accept Sanskrit origin happened in India around 1500 B.C. The ancient Hindu Rishis formed and wrote the Puranas and other holy books of Hindus in the Sanskrit language. The Rishis handed the knowledge of Vedas to their disciples orally. We can find the oldest Sanskrit letters in Rigveda, containing thousands of Hindu Hymns.
From 500 B.C. – 1000 A.D., Sanskrit turned into the classical language. Therefore the Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata also wrote` in Sanskrit. Panini, the famous Sanskrit scholar, wrote Sanskrit grammar to understand the theme of the complicated language of ordinary people. The same grammar is also used at present. Philosophy, Science, Astronomy and medicine books also wrote in classical Sanskrit. Hence many ancient scholars, poets and Rishis contributed to Sanskrit literature.

Sanskrit Script:

Sanskrit script based on Devanagari and Brahmi. Sage Panini wrote Sanskrit grammar produced around the 4th century B.C. his grammar book called Ashtadhyani; the book discussed the details of how language works, and the same book is the basis for modern Sanskrit grammar. The language grammar is complicated to learn and has an enormous vocabulary. The famous Hindu philosophical concept of Advaita, Advaita and Vishistadvaita are also written in Sanskrit. The famous Sanskrit poet Kalidasa wrote favourite stories and Plays in Sanskrit. According to the 2001 Indian census, only 14,135 people speak Sanskrit fluently around India. Some other countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Japan, and China also have some Sanskrit language speakers.
