Arya Samaj Marriage:

Arya Samaj Marriage is very simple in performance and follows a high spiritual quotient. The marriage follows the simplicity in decoration and other ceremonies. It has several features. The clarity of the union does not diminish its significance. During the wedding, the priest chants the Vedic mantras and explains them to the couples so they can understand the essence of marriage. In the present society, the Arya Samaj Marriage is the ideal marriage among all marriage styles in India.

Swami Dayananda Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj and was a great philosopher in India. His teachings are about ancient culture and tradition. He followed the marriage rituals discussed in the ancient Hindu scriptures prescribed in the Vedas. So these marriages are confined to the Hindu community only. The wedding rituals are organized according to old Veda scriptures. During this ceremony, the priest did not worship any deity of Hinduism; instead of that, he performed Pooja to five essential elements like Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Sky. The government validated these marriages by getting the Act XIX of 1937.

Arya Samaj Marriage Rituals and Customs:

The priest performs some of the rituals during the marriage. The unique patterns are Madhuparka, Shilarohan, Parikrama, and Pani Grahan.

The Madhuparka is prepared with curd, cream, and honey. In this ritual, the bride offers the groom the Madhuparaka liquid three times, and both provide the mixture for the almighty, and the groom eats it as Prasadam. Then the groom holds the bride’s hands and recites mantras and promises to the bride to stay with her in all circumstances.
