Chandra Shekhar Azad was born on 23 July 1906. His real name was Chandra Shekhar Tiwari, the famous Indian freedom fighter. He belongs to Bhavra, a small village in Alirajpur District, Madhya Pradesh. Since his childhood days, he has been fearless. At the age of 15 years, he joined the non-cooperative movement and even went to jail. When Chandrashekhar was produced in the court, he answered his name ‘Azad’, pronounced his father’s name was ‘Swatantra’, and the residence Jail. Since then, he has been famous as Chandra Shekhar Azad. He was also renowned as the mentor of Bhagat Singh, who was a rebellious freedom fighter. His formal education was completed in Kashi Vidyapeeth, Banaras. Besides his studies, he studied the Sanskrit language, the ancient language of India.

Azad Chandrashekhar became very famous after his arrest at such a young age. Since the arrest, he has been involved in the freedom movement and has acted aggressively against British rule. He targeted British officials, even engaged in Kakori Train Robbery in 1925 and shooted British official Saunders in 1926 to take revenge for the murder of Lala Lajpatrai. Azad wanted India as Purna Swaraj and himself committed to freeing India. He tried to implement socialist principles for the great future of India.

Courage

Chandra Shekhar Azad’s fierce attacks on British officials made them fearful. Although, He killed several British Policemen and wounded others. Due to the fear, the British wanted him to catch in any way, so the British officials ordered the police officers to find Azad alive or even dead. Since then, Azad Chandrashekhar has been very cautious about the idea of the British. On 27 February 1931, when he was at Alfred park in Allahabad, he received the message that the British were surrounding the park to catch him. But he had a strong determination that he never be seen alive. So he shot himself on 27 February 1931 and died at Alfred Park in Allahabad. Before killing himself, he successfully killed several British Policemen and wounding others.
