Mata Amritanandamayi Biography:

Mata Amritanandamayi is a great spiritual personality. He is known all over the world for her philanthropic and generous activities. Her devotees and followers called her Amma. Of course, she is also known as Amma. She was born on September 27th, 1953, in a poor fishermen’s family in rural Kollam village. Her father’s name is Sugunandan, and her Mother is Damayanthi. She has many followers from India and abroad and

seems very simple and mostly dressed in a white-clad. Amma always wears a loving smile and has a healing touch. Mata Amritanandamayi means, Mother of Immortal Bliss’. Her devotees believe her to be an incarnation of the Hindu Goddess “Kali”.

Mata Amritanandamayi Childhood:

She had only primary education in rural Kollam village and never had been serviced under any spiritual Guru. She was also not read or exposed to any philosophical books. However, she dramatically loves fellow human beings and shows compassion he needs. Her childhood behaviour caused her parents to think about her great concern for people experiencing poverty. One day, she will be a great personality to impress society with her love, affection and compassion.

The year 1975 brought a significant change in her life. One day she met her neighbour’s house and listened to the concept of ‘Krishna Bhava’. She went into an excellent state of bliss and followed the ‘Krishna Bhava’ idea. From then, she started servicing her fellow human beings. The villagers were attracted by her words and healing words of her. Slowly people began to flock to the village for her blessings. Gradually the number increased a lot. So she started a small seaside hamlet without tolerating the opposition of her family and outside. Many disciples of her left their families and joined with her.

Mata Amritanandamayi Math:

In 1981 Amritanandamayi Math started, and in a short period, it became a soul-soothing spiritual tourism spot. Amma gives amicable treatment to her devotees who come to her to solve their problems. She completely listens to devotees’ concerns, whispering soothing words in their ears and stroking their backs with great affection. As a result of the devotees, Mata is nothing but their Mother. Gradually the math became an international charity organisation. Since then, the branches have spread to many Indian cities and several Asian countries. Europe, the U.S.A, and other western countries also have many components of this Math.

Mata Amritanandamayi Services:

She established many charitable projects like Amrita Niketan for Orphans and Amrita Balamandiram for Scheduled caste students. Amrita Bhavanam for tribal children and many more medical centres. Consequently, the math also built more than 25,000 houses in various towns in India for poor people and in natural calamity-affected areas. She represented Hinduism at the world’s religions Parliament in Chicago in 1993. The Indian government was honoured with the Gandhi-King Non-violence award in 2002. Still, her spiritual travelling continues all over the world. Hence, many devotees participated in her services without cast, clan and religion.
