King Porus’s history was known to us by Greek Historians. The Historians wrote about Porus as a great warrior king who defied Alexander the Great without fear. His war skills amused Alexander, who retired the Kingdom to Porus and treated him as a friend. King Porus was assassinated sometime between 321 and 315 BC by Eudemus, one of the greatest generals of Alexander.
Hydaspes Battle
The details of the Hydaspes Battle are also known to us by Greek historians. In 326 BC, a fierce battle was fought between Alexander the Great and King Porus on the banks of the Jhelum River; the site is in Mong, Punjab, in part of Pakistan. During the battle of Hydaspes, the Porus army fought against the Greek army with utmost daring and came close to victory. However, the modern battle techniques of the Greek army succeeded in defeating the Porus army. After the battle, Alexander felt astonished at King Porus’s army’s war skills and dare. Porus’s warrior skills impressed Alexander, and he gave back his Kingdom with some Novelties.
The Hydaspe’s battle made the fear of defeat in their thoughts of Alexander. So he ordered his generals to send his army back to Greek. The famous Historians thought that when Alexander struggled to defeat a small king Porus, how could he fight against the mighty ruler of Maghada, Dhana Nanda, who was about 100 times more potent than Porus? So Alexander left hope of conquering India.
So Porus also protected the Indian Continent from foreign rulers in those days.
Baat aapaki sahi hai. Mere hisaab se bhi Yudh porus ne jita tha. Agar aapako aur proof chahiyen to Amrican movie dekh lo usamen unhone kaafi research ke baad ye dikhaya hai.
Its Porus who won the Battle and is identified in the Katoch family tree as Parmanand Chandra – famously known as Porus in the history of India. (It is at this point we would like to inform you that the recorded history has 2 interpretations, one of the Greek, and the second of the Indian scholars, we will narrate both of them and let you interpret history in your own way).
Please find the logical facts and if you wants to have the real proof you can thoroughly Study Himachal’s History.
In spite of clear evidence borne out of subsequent developments – world scholars have not taken the interest to study these facts further. How are we to believe that:
01.) A man (Alexander) known for his cruelty,
02.) Suspected for the murder of his father, cousins, and Basus of Bactria,
03.) A man who considered himself as a demi God and demanded implicit obedience,
04.) A man who burned down cities and took his enemies women,
05.) A man who without reason killed his best friend and able general,
06.) A man who entered into war against Porus with intentions of making Porus’s head roll, like that of king Darias.
On a mere brave answer by Porus Alexander spared his life, returned his entire kingdom and also added to his territories. The real fact is that Porus had defeated Alexander, which is further proven by the fact that – Taxila (owned by Alexander allai) was handed over to Porus & the king Abhisar refused to meet Alexander (had Alexander won the battle Abhisar would have rushed to Alexander to make peace).
