Ratan Tata was born on December 28, 1937, in Surat. His father’s name is Naval Hormusji Tata. And mother Soonoo. He is the great-grandson of a brilliant entrepreneur and the founder of the TATA group Jamshedji Tata. His family belonged to wealthy and famous social people in Bombay. Unfortunately, his parents separated in the mid-1940s. He is the present Chairman of the Tata Group; The Company speeded in every business and continued success with large profits.
He suffered a lot during his childhood due to their parent’s separation. He studied his early education at the Campion School in Mumbai. Later in 1962, he completed his Architectural and Structural Engineering at Cornell University, USA. He also completed his Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, USA. He got a job at IBM and did not accept the position on the advice of JRD Tata and joined the Tata Group in December 1962.
Ratan Tata Career in TATA Group:
Internally, Ratan Tata is shy and prefers to maintain a low profile in public. He rarely participated in social functions. He has capital in Tata Sons, the group’s holding company. His money in various group companies made him one of the wealthiest men in the world. At present, the worth of his property is estimated around US50$. JRD announced him as his next successor. In 1971 he was appointed the Director-in-Charge of the National Radio and Electronics Company Limited.
There was a lot of change occurred during 1991’s. He was elected group chairman in 1991, filling the manager posts with the younger. This made a lot of changes in the attitude toward Tata company affairs. His ideas and suggestions and pushing the non-nice things in the company made the company one of the largest market capitalizations of any other business Company on the Indian Stock Market. Under his business leadership qualities, the Tata Group handover the famous two iconic British Brands, Jaguar and Land Rover. He also released the world’s cheapest car Nano on January 10, 2008.
Ratan Tata As a Philanthropist:
Mr Tata is also very fond of doing philanthropically worked. He is associated with many organizations in India and Overseas and is the Chairman of the two largest philanthropic trusts, which are doing generosity activities on a large scale worldwide. Tata is also a member of the Indian Prime Minister Council on Trade and Industry. He is the Chairman of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and the President of the Indian Institute of Management. He is also a board trustee of Cornell University and the University of Southern California. His services also spread to famous Multi-National Companies like Mitsubishi Corporation, JP Morgan Chase, Rolls-Royse, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
About his Personal Life and Marriage:
Ratan Tata has been frequently quizzed on his love life and marriage. But in an interview with CNN, he said that when he worked in the US, I fell in love and wanted to get married. Both of us wish to come back to India. During the same year, there was a conflict between the Chinese and India. She felt insecure about her life, so she didn’t come to India and married another in the US. In 1962 he returned to India because of his grandmother’s ill health.
Ratan Tata is a good human being. Due to his services and assistance to the Industrial sector, the impressed Government of India honoured him with the second-highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2008. The many prestigious universities all over the world kept him with honorary doctorates.
