Hawa Mahal is one of the attractive places in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. There are many tourist spots in Jaipur. One is Hawa Mahal or the ‘Palace of Winds’. It is one of the historical places in the city’s heart. Many tourists from all over the world visit the place and are astonished while looking at the monument. Most of the constructions in the city were constructed with Pink marble. So the town became famous as the pink city.

Hawa Mahal History:

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur city and his grandson Kachhwaha Rajput ruler Sawai Pratap Singh built the outstanding Palace in 1799 at the heart of Jaipur city. in those days, the famous architecture, Lall Chand Usta, designed this Mahal. Sawai Pratap Singh, the great devotee of Lord Krishna, is visible in this creation, too, as Hawa Mahal looks a lot like the crown of Lord Krishna.

There is a story associated with the construction of the Palace in Rajasthan. According to the report, royal women of Rajputs were not allowed to appear in Public places or front of unknowns. They are interested in following the day-to-day events held on the streets. Generally, the royal families strictly follow the traditions and customs of those days. Hence the businesses don’t allow them to watch the fairs on the street. So then, the king wanted to solve this problem by constructing the grand Hawa Mahal. The monument has several small windows and screened balconies to witness the activities.

The Palace is fifty feet high from its base. The interior side of the mahal work is dedicated to Hindu Gods Krishna and Goddess Radha. The Palace has 953 windows decorated with twisted designs. The windows are comforted to enter calm wind into the Palace, making the internal environment very quiet and pleasant. The interior of the Palace is exquisite and looks pretty peaceful. There is no stair in the Palace to reach the upper floors. Instead, slopes connect these stories. The designs of the exterior of the Palace are very sharp, and visitors can get an eye-catching view of the Pink City.
